Please join us for our Second Annual Day of the Dead Celebration, Festival De Los Muertos, on Friday, November 2nd, 2012.
Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using photos, flowers, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts.
In honor of this day, we at Fountainhead are building an altar on our roofdeck (created primarily by two standing coffins & our fireplace). We are asking you to bring in photographs & trinkets of your deceased loved ones which can be placed on the altar in remembrance (you can take them back when you leave!). We will be selling flowers which can be thrown on the alter & all the money raised from the flower sales will go to SOS Children’s Villages (http://www.sos-childrensvillages.org/Pages/default.aspx).
In addition we will have a Face Painter on hand again this year who will happily paint your face for a decent tip! We will also be selling the kick-ass poster you see in this image, made by the one & only Dan Grzeca. Add to this some amazing dead inspired beer, delicious food specials, & a terrific music playlist, and it’s a night you won’t want to miss.
This collaborative event with our friends at 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, Three Floyds, Stone Brewing Co. & Half Acre Brewing Company, will feature some special beers to honor the day:
